Be careful of torrential rains

 In this season, floods and landslides may be caused by torrential rain in Japan.

Please pay attention to the weather forecast and information from your local government. Check for where to evacuate near your home.

If you feel your safety is in danger, evacuate immediately.

Attention: Foreigners who were previously ineligible for \100,000 special cash payments. Japan has changed the eligibility on 20th May.

Foreigners are eligible to receive 100,000 yen per person.

Due to the Covid-19 situation, the government will give 100,000 yen to every person living in Japan.

Those that are eligible to receive the 100,000 yen are those who are listed in the Basic Resident Register as of 27th April. Foreigners are also eligible.

※ The period and method of application differs between municipalities.

Status of Residence for Foreigners Who Lost Their Jobs

In order for foreigners who lost their jobs during the coronavirus period to continue working, the Immigration Bureau of Japan will specially recognise a "Designated Activities" (特定活動) status of residence, a working visa with a maximum validity of 1 year.
